About Me

I am a second-career teacher. In my other life, I crunched numbers as an accountant. Probably would have made a great math teacher had the thought occurred to me. No matter, I'm where I'm supposed to be; teaching third grade. Before that, 2nd grade and before that kindergarten. I have 2 grown daughters, 2 poodles, and 1 hubby. I live and work on Long Island.

Let Me Tell You About My Cousin

My little cousin is turning 5 today.
She loves Hello Kitty and has 2 brothers. She’s in the middle.

We’re not actually cousins. Her mom is a very dear friend.

She calls me cousin Rissa. I like that she doesn’t call me her aunt. Puts us on a different level.

The thing is, I really feel more like her grandma.
This kid is delicious…She’s precocious and smart and simply adorable. I eat up every word she says.

I think that’s how I will probably feel about grandchildren when I have them.

  1. Five is such a great age! I always say it's the first birthday that kids really remember.
    A lovely post.
